Batman vs Harley Quinn

I am excited about this years Halloween costumes! Heck, what am I kidding, I'm always excited about making Halloween costumes. Last year since both girls were both so young I just picked the theme. They were especially adorable as Little Red Riding Hood and the Little Bad Wolf.

This year I asked Kayleigh what she wanted to be for Halloween. I had some suggestions, but she was adamant she wanted to be candy! After weeks of trying to figure out how I was going to pull that off, she learned her friend was going to go as Batman and changed her mind - she wanted to be Batman, too! This was much easier for me and decided Lexi would be the cutest Harley Quinn (I did the new version from the Suicide Squad movie since I figured it would be easier for me)

Instead of just buying costumes, I prefer to make and piece them together out of things we already own.

For Kayleigh's costume, I made the batman mask out of felt (2 layers of felt that I sewed together around the edges and hot glued elastic to) and the cape was some leftover black canvas I had on hand that I cut out and did a simple zig-zag stitch on the edged to keep it from fraying. The Batman shirt was bought at Walmart for under $7 and the skirt was a gift from a friend earlier this year (I think she got it at goodwill for $2)

For Lexi's Harley Quinn costume, I bought a blank red & white baseball tee off Amazon for less than $7 and designed the "Daddy's Lil Monster" text as close as possible to match the original. Then I used my cricut and some heat transfer vinyl to put the design onto the shirt. The shorts were just a pair she already owned and I had some tights on underneath them. I also bought hair chalk to give her the red and blue pigtails. (The baseball bat in the above picture was something we bought for the girls to play with at the end of summer, but I completely forgot to bring it for the photos. Whomp whomp. Thankfully a chain hanging on the door worked awesome as a prop.)

Total, I'm sure the costumes cost me less than $20. Not too bad, and everything can get used and worn again once Halloween is over!!

The girls love their costumes, too! Kayleigh would wear hers everyday if I let her. Lexi thinks having the color in her hair is pretty neat and will constantly play with her pigtails if I let her (and get the chalk dust everywhere!) We got a lot of cute looks letting them run around Main Street St. Charles when I was taking pictures.

I'll have another post of all out Halloween shenanigans coming up here shortly. We really seemed to get into the holiday spirits this year!

Pregnancy Update: 30 Weeks

(So I had this post all typed up and everything last week, posted it from the blogger app on my phone and apparently instead of posting it went into limbo instead. Glad I checked! So, here is my 30 week bumpdate, even though its a week late.)

So I am 30 weeks!!

With my track record, I have less than 10 weeks left since I went into labor at 39 weeks with both girls.

I had my 30 week appointment yesterday and everything was great. Baby has been moving around like crazy, especially at night, and has a nice, strong heartbeat. I'm down to bi-weekly appointments now and next month I have a follow up ultrasound to make sure baby's urinary tract is developing properly (It was undersized at my 20 week, but doctor says its common and should fix itself before birth.)

My stomach feels soooo big and tight right now. I have been using lotion like crazy because it itches and I have already gotten some stretch marks. Most likely I have more on the way, but 3 pregnancies and I'm just now getting stretch marks so I guess I can't complain too much.

I am so tired anymore and can fall asleep at the drop of a hat. I actually laid down with Kayleigh today to try and get her to take a nap and I feel asleep myself!! Kay and I were in a wedding over the weekend, me being the matron of honor and Kay being the flowergirl, and it took me a full day to recuperate from it. I pretty much did nothing but sleep Sunday and still ended up going to bed not too long after the girls did.

I've gotten pretty much everything we need for the baby. I was able to score a Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper for $40 off craigslist!! They typically go for $60-100 used but this lady only used it for a few months and needed to get rid of it for space so she priced it low. I also won a few items for baby, and I have the most adorable donut swaddle on the way as well! All we really need is a carseat and we are all set!

Kayleigh is excited to be a big sister again. She will ask to snuggle with 'her brother' all the time (she's convinced its a boy, so we just stopped trying to tell her, "brother OR sister"), she told me she wants to bring baby a balloon when she meets him for the first time, and has a list of all the things she wants to do when baby gets here. Lexi, on the other hand, will poke my belly and say, "Baby, out!" but it mostly unfazed.

I'm getting super excited that the end is in sight and can't wait to meet my little dude or dudette!

September Pictures!

(Hopefully I can post this before the end of October, but I'm having some sort of issue with Google Photos and all my pictures, including newly uploaded ones, are showing as broken.)

Another month, another picture dump! I almost forgot about it this month, too. Shame, shame. I mean, it's not like I'm actually posting anything else besides them, lately, right? Life hasn't been really blog-worthy lately and since this is more a memory blog than a "write articles to get people to come to it" blog, I guess thats not a huge deal. Anyway, onto the pictures!!

I started making shirts to sell and me and the girls were the first guinea pigs! (if you're really interested, check out http://www.etsy.com/shop/thekohntribe)

I won a $100 giftcard to target and one of my purchases was finally buying a cute welcome mat for the house. I've always wanted to get one and it only took 8 years and 2 houses to finally make my 'dream' a reality!

Me and the girls went to Vintage Market Days over the weekend and had a blast. I loved looking at all the pretty things I would never buy, Kayleigh had a blast running around and dancing to the music and Lexi just liked to wave and say 'hi!' to everyone we passed.

24 week baby bump! I'm almost 30 now, so time is really flying!

My wild child in all her glory - messy hair, dirty pants and typically climbing something.

Kayleigh also started Pre School last month! Its only 2 days a week for 3 hours but she absolutely loves it!

The weather is finally cooling down, so more time spent outdoors and I am so excited for Halloween this month! I can't wait!
