Kawaii, Fuzzibunz & Swadlebee/Blueberry - One week review

I have been using my new diapers for about a week now and here are my thoughts so far

Kawai

Original One-size in Persian Green and Snazzy Minky One-size in Glossy Green
Kawaii diapers come with two large inserts that are perfect for nighttime. These are actually what I put Kayleigh in at night and she has only had one small leak (she is a very heavy nighttime wetter)

They fit Kay pretty well with either both inserts or just the one - nice and tight around her top and legs without being too tight.
My only complaint is that the covers take longer to dry than the others for some reason. I'll think they are dry and start to stuff them but when I put my hand inside it is still damp. Not a huge minus but it sucks if I'm trying to get the diapers done quickly.

Swaddlebees/Blueberry

Simplex 2.0 All-in-one Size Medium in the Owl PrintThis is by far my favorite print. I love owls and they somehow became Kay's 'theme'. I actually bought this diaper just because of this print. I'm really glad I did too because right now it is my favorite out of the four. Kay is only around 13 pounds at 5 months and is a pretty trim little girl. This diaper on the smallest tabs fits her like a glove! I don't foresee any leaks any time soon because it is just right.

My one negate is that the tabs go to the inside so since she is in the smallest tab setting she has all that extra pushing into her tummy. I don't think it bothers her, though.

Fuzzibunz

Perfect Size Small in Caribbean
I love the quality of the fuzzibunz but they don't quite fit Kay as well as I like. I probably could have gotten away with a x-small but that is supposed to be up to 12lbs and Kay is over that already. The waist is fine (I use the second to smallest setting) but the legs just don't fit like I would like them to. I'm sure as she gets older they will fit better.

I currently ordered 7 more Kawaii (two snazzy minky, one heavy wetter and the rest are all original) which should be here Tuesday. Althought I do like the Swaddlebees/Blueberry & Fuzzibunz, it's  not in the budget to have my entire stash be such but I will definitely be buying more, especially the Simplex 2.0s

Trip to the Arch

Saturday,  friend and I decided to take the Metrolink down to the St. Louis Arch.

We bundled Kay up, since it was chilly out, and set off!

She got so many compliments on her adorable bunny jacket.

We made it to the top and of course had to get a picture at the highest point of the arch

Kay LOVED looking out the windows!

(even though I'm not a baseball fan, you always have to get a photo of Busch Stadium from the arch!)

Alas, it was time to go since someone was getting cranky and in need of a nap.

We decided to walk a few blocks to get on the Metro at the stadium stop.

My tuckered out little bunny slept all the way from the Arch until we got off the Metro where my car was.

Fluff mail arrived!!

The cloth diapers came in yesterday! And let me say that they are cuter in person than the pictures show!

Here is what I ordered:
Fuzzibunz Perfect Size in Caribbean

Blueberry Simplex 2.0 in the Owl Print

Kawaii Snazzy Minky in Glossy Green!
It's not a print I would have picked out on my own but I am still excited to have another Kawaii to try out. As I mentioned in my last post, I'm hoping I like them a little more than the others since they aren't as expensive ($10-12 per diaper compared to $17-20+)

And then the box they came in was immediately commandeered by the cats as a toy. The kitty logic is: If I fits, I sits.

I can't wait to get them prepped and put Kay in them! I've never prepped a diaper before since my others were used so this is going to be a learning experience.

Kay and I also went to the St. Louis Arch yesterday with a friend so I will have those photos up hopefully soon!

Autumn pictures

Hubby was working in the garage the other day so Kay and I decided to play outside with the pups and it turned into a perfect photo opportunity!

Fluff mail in route!

More cloth diapers are on the way!!KCorder101513I saw that Kelly's Closet had a special for a free diaper with any $49+ purchase (sadly, it's over already) so I looked into my diaper saving, saying if I had over $50 I would order some. I had $53 so guess who bought some cute diapers!! (hint: it's me.)

I can't wait for them to get here! I bought a Fuzzibun, a Blueberry, and a Kawaii (plus a sample package of Rockin' Green to get my order over $49) I'm hoping I really like the Kawaii since they are the cheaper brand but I have heard so much about Fuzzibuns and Blueberry that I thought I should buy at least one.

I will definitely post pictures when they come in!

I am still loving my BumGenius 3.0s but I am noticing a few things that I don't like but it's all because they are used. First, the velcro/aplix doesn't stay stuck to the laundry tabs which causes a huge wad of diapers when I pull them out of the wash. Second, the elastic around the legs of a few are relaxed to where I have to have them on Kay pretty tight to 'seal' around her bitty legs. I'm sure as she gets older and bigger it won't be an issue, though!

5 Months

It's hard to believe Kay is five months old today!

She rolls over like a champ now. She is also living up to her nickname - set her on the floor and just watch her wiggle across the room. This past week she has learned how to control herself and wiggle in the direction she wants to go.

We have been feeding her rice cereal during dinner for almost a month and she loves it. Saturday night we decided to try some pureed carrots and I don't think she wanted to stop eating them! Of course, she made a huge mess in the process. Wiggles has also started sucking her fingers - the middle and ring fingers. She'll take a pacifier still but prefers her fingers.

028cf78c305f11e3ae7f22000ae912b7_7Kay has gotten better at sitting up. She can tripod on the floor for a while until something more interesting catches her eye and then she falls over and rolls to around. However, she is stubborn on the sitting as well - I will try to put her in the sitting position and she will fight it because she much rather stand and jump! Oh how she loves to jump! I went out to eat with her yesterday and that is all she did the entire time. It makes eating very difficult :)

I can't wait to see what this next month has in store!

Sniffles

68f03bda2dfb11e3bf5322000a9f38c3_7Kayleigh and I both have been under the weather this weekend. She caught a cold and starting coughing and sneezing Friday night / Saturday morning. I feel so bad for the poor girl! I called the doctor's office and they told me at her age they can't recommend any medicine for the cough but instead of turn the shower on hot, let the steam fill up the bathroom and sit in the bathroom with her for a bit. It worked so far and she hasn't had much of a cough since Sunday.

On a different note, I finally bought a rug for the living room! We only ripped up the carpet a year ago...7ddd3f062d1111e394a422000a1f9874_7Now Kayleigh and I won't have to roll around on the hard floor (well, on a play mat on the hard floor). Much more comfortable!!

Up All Night

Every since she cameImage home from the hospital, Kayleigh has been an excellent night-time sleeper - I got six hours straight of sleep the first night home. Naps were a different story once she turned about 3 weeks (half hour naps that I used to struggle for hours to get her to take) but everything has balanced out the past month.
She takes three half-hour to hour long naps throughout the day. Her nighttime routine is: feed her rice cereal at 6pm, then give her a bath and shes asleep by 7pm and normally sleeps until 7am with waking up to eat maybe twice a night (3am & 5am typically)

Until last weekend...

She has been showing signs of getting a tooth - excessive drooling, chewing, low-grade fever etc. The last four nights my wonderful sleeper who took maybe 15-20 minutes to get to sleep suddenly was taking an hour plus of crying, screaming and arm flailing. Then on top of that she has been waking up in the middle of the night and not wanting to go back to sleep (Saturday night/Sunday morning was a repeat of the screaming, crying and whatnot).  Naps have been a little better but Tuesday she was awake for over 6 hours straight! She would act sleepy, fall asleep for about 15 minutes then wake back up and just want to play, play, play.

This morning, she woke up at 4am to eat and wanted to play and talk! Two hours later I got her back to sleep and got myself to sleep only to wake back up at 6am and she is laying next to me in bed, just talking to herself and hitting my face (It was so cute that you just can't get mad!!)

Last night I gave her oralgel before I put her to bed and there was less crying and screaming so I think it helped. I just feel so sorry for my little girl!!

Speaking of rice cereal, she started it over a week ago and eats it like a champ! She seemed to grasp the idea of using the spoon right away and always wants more when we are finished! We are thinking about trying pureed carrots or applesauce in a few weeks for dinner and see how she does.img01

We are still working on sitting up - she can balance herself for a bit but eventually falls over. She's getting better each day and I actually bought a Prince Lionheart bebePod (like a bumbo seat) for her when I saw it was on sale with free amazon prime shipping.
